Achieve Dapper Status: Follow These 4 Steps

Hint: It involves an iron.

Dapper – adjective: neat and trim in dress, appearance, or bearing.

Nowhere in the definition above does the word “dapper” refer to a man’s jawline, six pack abs, or the size of his…thighs.

You don’t need a gym membership to stand out from a crowd (although a few push ups wouldn’t hurt).

A dapper man is thoughtful, creative, and detail oriented in the way he presents himself to others. Meaning everything from your pant line to your neckline should look on point.

So let’s get to it. Here are four simple ways to achieve dapper status:

1. Shave below the neckline

Anyone who likes men will tell you, beards are hot!

Just look at Hugh Jackman, Julian Edelman, and Joe Manganiello (insert heart eyes emoji here).

Their scruff adds an extra layer to their look, helping them to stand out from the rest.

If you take the time to Google any three of these guys, you’ll notice a common theme around their neatly trimmed whiskers.

They all shave below the neck.

Moral of the story, beards are sexy, but there’s a fine line between sexy and homeless. So find that line, and shave below it.

2. Tailor your suits

This one should be a given.

A great suit should have a fit that’s snug (but not too tight) on the body. Even the smallest adjustments can make all the difference in your look.

However, this doesn’t mean you need to spend an arm and a leg. There’s no shame in buying a suit on sale, but throwing a little money at your tailor is the difference between your suit wearing you, and you wearing your suit.

3. Use an iron

Regardless of how expensive your clothes are, if they’re wrinkled, you’re ultra chic Dolce and Gabbana dress shirt is no greater than the old American eagle button-down you (hopefully) have stuffed in the back corner of your closet.

If you don’t have one, spend the $20 to $50 bucks and buy an iron.

4. If you’re unsure. Overdress

A rule of thumb, if you’re unsure what the attire, it’s always better to overdress than underdress.

Remember, it’s always better to be remembered for over dressing, then under-dressing…duh.

See? You’re looking more dapper already. 🙂
