Jina is a twenty-five year old Media & Communications graduate, living the blogger dream.
She’s a personal stylist based out of New York.
Jina originally started her blog, jinamichele.com, back in 2011 and has been growing ever since.
Check out why this girl should be on your radar:
Why did you start blogging? And what currently drives you to keep up with it?
I started blogging in 2011 after my English professor my second year in college had assigned everyone to create a blog.
There is just something about the idea of being my own fashion model in a way, styling my own outfits, expressing who I was through my style and writing, that made me feel more like myself than anything ever has and gave me so much confidence to actually be myself. Who would want to give up that feeling.
What would you consider your personal style to be and what influences your style?
This is a tough question honestly!
I love clean lines, minimal styling and silhouettes that give me more of a “womanly figure” you could say. Highlighting my strong points cause petite girls got it too if you know what I mean! But my main point is to never overthink it so I always look effortless. If Posh Spice would’ve worn it, then I would wear it too lol.
Streetstyle and other bloggers are my biggest influence. 🙂
Are there any fashion labels you love?
And Zara. Trusty old Zara lol.
What beauty products do you live by?
What bloggers do you follow and why?
- Karlas Closet – her style just ughhh, I love it so much and we have similar body types so if it looks good on her, chances are it will on me.
- Samantha Maria Official – I love her personality and I feel like I can really relate to her, plus her looks are always so chic.
- Janice Joostema – she is definitely an inspiration and her style is luxe and effortlessly sexy in a way that is to die for!
Do you blog full time?
Not at the moment. I am also a part time personal stylist but I’m hoping to make blogging my full time gig 🙂
Who takes your photos?
The boyfriendtographer :*
What is your favorite part about blogging? And what’s the worst part about it?
My favorite is for sure putting on outfits and taking photos. In that moment, I feel like myself. I have always wanted to be a model growing up but being a shorty, it wasn’t ideal. So shooting for my blog I feel 100% confident and on top of the world.
The worst is when I think I have the greatest idea ever for a post and the feedback isn’t what I hoped for but everything is a lesson learned in this business! If you fail, try try again 🙂
What do you love most about your blog?
I love that my blog isn’t just a showcase of my personal style but also a place to find out what the latest trends are, how to style the trends, and where to find affordable fashions.
I’ve recently started an “under $100” series and it’s really fun to find trending fashion items or designer dupes at a price that real people (including myself lol) can afford. I’m not big on splurging for trends that will only last a few months.
What piece of advice would you give to anyone starting their own blog?
If you really want to succeed and are passionate about blogging then find your voice/niche and stick with it. Stay consistent and don’t give up no matter what. You won’t regret it and your hard work will pay off.
Have any fashion blog goals for 2017?
I hope to get more collab opportunities with a few companies this year.
And I want my readers to feel more engaged on a personal level with my blog as well as growing my overall audience.
