When you think of the term “summering”, the Hamptons, the south of France, or Saint Tropez typically might come to mind.
Well, little do you know that there is one gem left off of Travel Channel’s “Top 10 Summer Destinations” list; I must confess that a summer at the Jersey Shore is one of America’s best kept secrets.
The Jersey Shore is home to a treasure trove of life changing restaurants.
I could never love a human child more than I love the taste of a porkroll egg and cheese from FaNagle the Bagel on a summer morning. 🙂
Some of my favorite memories take place in midst of the long lines and 50s music that inevitably come with Strollo’s ice cream.
And no matter what you did that night, you and a hundred of your closest friends will end up at Inkwell Coffeehouse at 2 am eating fried mac n cheese and iced dutch coffees.
I am so serious when I say that these foods can make you a better person, bring families together, maybe even achieve world peace…maybe.
With such a wide range of beaches to choose from, it is virtually impossible to ever have a boring beach day.
If you’re more of a people person, you could hit up the Manasquan and Belmar beaches. These are some of the most popular beaches for tourists, so really the whole point of even going is to meet cute guys and people watch.
If socializing isn’t really your thing, head over to one of the beaches in Monmouth Beach where you can waste the day away tanning and reading, with maybe a porkroll egg and cheese to keep you company.
No matter what beach you decide on, don’t you dare miss the opportunity to watch a beach sunrise.
No, I don’t care if you’ve seen one before, I am fully 100% convinced that sunrises are more spectacular in Jersey.
Unlike most summer getaways, when the beach scene gets old, there is no need to waste away in a hotel room.
Fact: most coming of the age stories from any New Jersey teenager were created at a PNC concert, even yours truly. Let’s just say pink vomit was involved and leave it at that.
The Jersey Shore has been a home to me for six years now and I can honestly say that every summer is better than the last.
Whether you are spending a day shopping in Red Bank and ending with an empanada from Fuze, or waking up early with your best friends and spending a full 12 hours on the beach, a summer in New Jersey is guaranteed to leave you with a tan, good friends, and a deep hatred for anyone from any other state.
