Get comfortable, it’s in fashion.
Yep. You read right.
Loungewear as we know it is having a total and complete major moment right now and lucky for us, it’s not just in the bedroom. 🙂
Designers are pulling inspiration from the bedroom and making these comfy styles timeless and extra necessary for every fashion girl.
Here are a some fashion tips to keep you looking loungewear look effortless and chic:
Proportions are essential.
It’s key to make sure to not go baggy all over when putting your ensemble together. Note: if one article of clothing is loose, make sure to keep the other tight. While we know flowy fabrics can be relaxing and super comfortable, they can also be totally detrimental to your figure. There’s not need to look like a sack of potatoes….Also, extra note: if you’re opting for a loose pant, go for a more fitted top. Got it?
Your shoes need to bomb as f*ck!
When sporting loungewear it’s important to keep your on point! And by that, we mean you should avoid shoes that feel too casual and shouldn’t EVER be mistaken for what you’d wear to a midnight snack run.
Avoid the following:
- Plain flip flops
Note: The key to making loungewear look effortlessly chic is to wear bomb a** shoes.
If you must, you can opt to wear a cute flat or sandals. But try a strapped flat sandal and this should go without saying, but always avoid anything that looks too much like a slipper.
Add some BLING!
If you’re ever feeling like your outfit may be too plain or too casual – accessories really make all the difference!
Fashion Tip: Elevate your oversized knit with a rhinestone pave statement necklace on top.
Play up the prints.
The trick is to use a pattern to highlight and balance your outfit. So instead of wearing a print from head-to-toe, try a printed kimono with some of your favorite jean shorts and a plain and comfy tee.
Hair and makeup is a MUST!
Believe it or not, but your hair and makeup can really make or break your outfit.
The right hair and makeup can make all the difference when completing an entire look.
Note: there is no reason to do a total glam look, but don’t forget about hair and makeup. It’s surprisingly important.
Try a no-makeup makeup look, as it’s always elegant and timeless. And opt for bold and vibrant lashes. For your hair, you can opt for a tight, slick bun or a a simple but voluminous blowout.
Add unexpected details.
Adding in an unexpected blazer, leather jacket, chambray top or flannel shirt can really bring the loungewear look together.
Adding sharp lines to your look can really create a more tailored and less sloppy effect. Also, feel free to add a scarf or clutch, or BOTH! You’ll totally notice how pairing pieces that feel more dressy/stylish can really turn up a loungewear look. 🙂
