Ever since Emilia Bechrakis Serhant was featured on Million Dollar Listing New York, I couldn’t get enough. She was someone I simply admired.
Not only was she was career driven and beautiful but she was also a sucker for love. And these were all qualities and traits I myself, as a woman, hoped to have had.
Watching Emilia’s journey both on and off the camera was inspirational. She made some really bold, life-altering, decisions and to see her evolve into the woman she is today, is nothing but motivational.
So with that, I reached out to her in hopes she might want to answer some questions. These questions touched on some light topics such as fitness and beauty (because after all, this is a fashion and beauty based website) as well as, her big career move and the things she would do for love.
To begin the questionnaire, I asked about fitness.
Why? Because it’s something Emilia has become extremely passionate about and has become a main focus area of her Instagram feed.
Check out her Q&A below:
You’re clearly devoted to working out, what sparked the addiction and what piece of advice would you give a girlfriend looking to get fit for summer?
I was always on the petite side and never tried to work out because I was scared to lose weight.
My husband gets up at 5 am and works out and I admired the discipline but noticed more so that he was happier, stronger and ready to start his day. So I tried it, joined the Dogpound and became obsessed with how clear my mind was when I worked out. And of course the added benefits of looking and feeling stronger.
Advice: Find something you love to do and enjoy and do it every day and it’ll become a habit and it breeds this fun interest in all things healthy. Before you know it you’ll be ready for summer. Biggest advice for any woman to feel good is to have confidence, never to take yourself too seriously and to make life fun!
What are your favorite brands to workout in?
Koral Activewear, Nike, alo, classics, but nothing beats my husband’s T-shirts as great workout gear.
I sweat and don’t care to look my best, I just get to work!
What are your favorite workouts?
I love Pilates, boxing, weight training, circuit training and anything that will challenge me.
Do you stick to a strict diet?
No strict diet, everything in moderation.
I don’t drink sodas, and I don’t like dairy and I can’t metabolize meat so well. However, once and a while I indulge. Life is too short!
After covering the basics of health and fitness, I tried to scoop up some of her beauty secrets…
Your skin is flawless, what are your tips and tricks for that?
I got into religious facials at Erno Laszlo and fell in love with their products.
I rarely wear makeup only for red carpet events, filming and if I have client dinners.
Never go to bed without taking off city grime and I make fun DIY masks which work miracles.
What is the one beauty product you are currently obsessing over?
Manuka Honey and apple cider vinegar just put it all over my face.
As for makeup, obsessed with tinted moisturizers, favorites include Kimiko the brand and Laura Mercier.
And then I touched base on Million Dollar Listing, her celeb status and some of the biggest decisions she’d had to make in her life…
Million Dollar Listing NY has gained you some extra notoriety. How do you react to the thought of having “fans”?
I never consider myself famous.
I am a lawyer, entrepreneur, above all partner to my husband in all ways and I never let any notoriety change who I am as a person.
That being said, it’s difficult to comprehend sometimes why people get excited to meet me but it’s so moving when I receive messages from people all over the world who remind me that even in little ways I inspire them, just by being me. Especially since I’ve become more vocal about fitness, wellness, and empowerment.
Would you ever consider doing a reality series with Ryan?
I have thought about it.
Since day one reality TV came with the territory and it’s ever-evolving so although I say no now, I never say never!
Last we heard, you decided to stop practicing law and got into Land Title Insurance. What sparked the interest? And do you have any regrets thus far?
I continue to volunteer my legal services to help others, I run multiple businesses, I am a senior sales representative at a large Title insurance company and I love the energy.
I get to see real estate deals before they come to fruition and watch the entire process.
I shared the same network as my husband and there was only so many times I could explain what a Maritime lawyer does to real estate crowds. I decided to go in that direction.
Regrets about career? Never, because being exposed to new fields and people will always lead you to where you’re meant to be.
What advice would you give to anyone looking to make a big change in their career?
Own it. Literally and figuratively.
If you’re deciding on leaving a job that feels like just that, “a job”, to start your own business then do it! It’s exciting and if you’re so passionate about it, you’ll succeed.
If you’re switching fields, again follow your gut on why you’re doing it.
Own it and celebrate the challenge and embrace the risk.
We spend all this time working might as well be in love with our livelihood.
When you made the decision to stay in New York, were you fearful?
Yes, I had lived in three countries and used to moving between all three. It was scary I stay put.
The reasons I stayed were all worth it. I wouldn’t have it any other way. All the signs pointed to staying and building a life here.
What are you looking to accomplish this year, both personally and professionally?
Happiness, work-life balance.
As a newlywed, you get to rediscover your partner and that’s all very exciting to me. I’m trying to travel as much as I can now before starting a family.
Professionally so many exciting projects coming up both collaborative with my husband and individually. That’s what’s exciting you can never stop evolving and discovering new things you’re not only passionate about but also skillful at.
