Recently we questioned if Khloe Kardashian was the one to put the designer, Self-Portrait, on the map, but now we know for sure it was and is in fact Meghan Markle to bring eyes to the brand, as the “Meghan Markle Effect” is literally full effect.
Last we reported that Markle had put Strathberry, a handbag line, on the map. And now there’s a waitlist to get the exact bag she sported.
Now comes a celebrity favorite: Self-Portrait.
Other than Khloe Kardashian, celebs like Reese Witherspoon, Lucy Hale, Kristen Stewart, Sofia Richie, and even Michelle Obama have worn the designer.
Markle sported a Self-Portrait dress while having Christmas lunch with the Queen and of course, it sold out in minutes.
But get this, the dress itself wasn’t even totally seen, as paparazzi only got a shot of Markle from her car.
But Self-Portrait has already updated their website to reflect Markle’s current influence:
“What to wear when meeting your entire extended Royal Family-to be? In Meghan’s case is was this gorgeous Self-Portrait dress in a stunning cut with lace and a style all its own. The black, white and pink Self-Portrait Nightshade midi dress has a mock neck, lace contrast, short sleeves, tan underlay at bust, dual slit pockets at sides, pleats at flared skirt and exposed zip closure at center back.”
So, who is Self-Portrait?
The brand came to be in 2013 by Malaysia native Han Chong and the British contemporary fashion label has made a home on retail giants like:
Outfits also typically range anywhere from $100-$600.
And while it was Markle who put the brand on the map recently, this isn’t the first time a royal has worn the designer.
Not only has Pippa Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister, been spotted in a Self-Portrait dress to Wimbledon this year, but so has The Duchess herself. Kate Middleton wore a Self-Portrait dress to the world premiere of A Street Cat Named Bob in 2016.
