After Sexual Assault Claims Burberry, Michael Kors, and Stuart Weitzman Have Dropped Mario Testino

Following sexual misconduct allegations, Burberry, Michael Kors, and Stuart Weitzman have all decided that they will no longer continue their work with Mario Testino.

Mario Testino is well known for for shooting luxury fashion campaigns, as well as working with the royal family.

On Saturday 13 January, the New York Times published a very detailed piece which consisted of claims made by 13 models and former assistants accusing Testino of sexual assault.

Testino has denied the allegations.

Lavely & Singer, Testino’s legal team, have challenged the “characters and credibility” of those who have made these accusations, stating that they “cannot be considered reliable sources.”

The lawyers also claim that former employees were “shocked by the allegations” and “could not confirm any of the claims.”

WWD reports that since the accusations, various fashion labels have ended their relationship with the photographer.

While Burberry has not worked with the photographer since 2016, they have noted that they do not have future plans to work with him:

“We take allegations of this nature very seriously. Burberry is committed to providing a just, safe and fair working environment and we have a zero-tolerance policy against any form of harassment, abuse or discrimination. The safety, security and welfare of the people with whom we work is a priority for Burberry and we seek to ensure all our partners adhere to our principles and policies and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.”

Michael Kors has also made a statement about discontinuing their work with Testino:

“We recently learned of the allegations concerning Mario Testino. In light of the seriousness of these accusations, we will not be working with Mr. Testino on future advertising campaigns.”

Wendy Kahn, Stuart Weitzman’s chief executive officer and brand president, also says that the brand will not work with Testino for the “foreseeable future.”

Kahn told WWD:

“We are deeply saddened by the allegations in today’s article. We take these accusations very seriously and providing a safe and secure working environment where everyone feels respected is our foremost priority. As a result, we will not be working with Mario Testino for the foreseeable future.”

Mario Testino has photographed several of Stuart Weitzman’s campaigns, which have featured:

  • Gigi Hadid
  • Joan Smalls
  • Lily Aldridge
