One of my most recent discoveries… well maybe not “discovery”… has been the wonders of clear mascara. To be honest, I always knew it existed but I never really cared to understand the purpose of it until a couple of months ago.
It was when I was doing the Peter Thomas Roth Lashes To Die For Turbo Nighttime Treatment Review that I decided to finally give clear mascara a try. I was so thrilled with the results the Turbo Nighttime serum gave me (I’m still using it) that I wanted to use something that would naturally highlight my results. I also wanted something that was super low maintenance but could still define my lashes during the summer season.
So that’s when I decided to pick up a tube of clear mascara from Target (and a few other things, of course, because who really goes to Target to buy just ONE thing?).
When it came to picking the product, I went with Maybelline’s Great Lash tube.
Because every time I thought of clear mascara, it was their tube that I thought of. The lime green cap and the semi pink branding. I didn’t necessarily do any research, I just went with what I remembered.
So, here’s why I think clear mascara should be your go-to mascara for summer:
It’s terrific for beach days or when you’re running around.
Putting on a full makeup look for a beach day is absolutely insane and just not realistic. But if you’re the type who needs a little something at all times, clear mascara is the way to go. It’s a great way to prevent “raccoon eyes” and gives your lashes a bit of curl and clear definition.
You can use it on your eyebrows.
I’m all about downsizing my makeup bag in the summer so if I can go for a 2-in-1 product; I’m all for it. And if you’re anything like me, using clear mascara for both your brows and lashes is a pure win!
When it comes to using the mascara on your brows, the texture of the product helps hold your brows in place, especially if they’re longer and you’re in between waxing appointments.
It’s great for achieving the no-makeup look.
Opting for the clear tube when trying to create a no-makeup look makes the most sense. Why? Your final look will appear much neater.
Fact: Clear mascara allows you to avoid those annoying clumps you tend to get on your lashes when using regular mascara.
To finalize your no-makeup look, finish it off with a little bit of blush, maybe some eyeshadow and a tinted lip balm, and you’re good to go!
