Trending since 2015, the Princetown leather slipper by Gucci has been one of the most sought after pieces.
Fashion heavyweights like designer Marc Jacobs, British stylist Katie Grand, and bloggers Man Repeller and Bryanboy have Instagrammed themselves in the fuzzy variation of the shoe, but the “simplified” version has been just as desired.
Back in 2015, Yahoo Style’s Editor-in-Chief Joe Zee deemed the slipper the season’s “statement shoe” which screamed “luxe in a new way.”
Zee told the New York Post:
“Fashion people love something that is a new take on something familiar. Like Céline’s fur Birks [$785], this fur and horse-bit loafer does the same. It’s a classic, timeless item given a new luxe spin.”— Joe Zee, Editor-in-Chief at Yahoo Style
The reason the simplified version has also become a sought after shoe is due to the versatility and freedom it brings as the fur slippers can only really be worn in certain places at certain times. For example, would you really want to wear those expensive fur babies down the subway?
Fuzzy or not, take a look why we’re loving (every reason) both variations, even three years later in 2019:
