Lim is a correspondent for E! News U.S. and currently hosts a Snapchat Discover series called: The Rundown, where she interviews a number of celebrities on a weekly basis.
And while she may be a fresh face to the U.S., just for the record, Lim has been around E! News for a bit.
She actually got her start back in 2015, when she moved to Asia to become a correspondent for E! News Asia.
And prior to that, Lim hosted a number of red carpet events for various award shows in addition to reporting and producing for Orange County’s news station, TV Orange.
Erin’s professional growth isn’t just admirable, it’s incredibly motivating, especially for those who are looking to make it in the entertainment industry.
So with that, check out our conversation below where we quickly talk about fashion (because why not?), beauty and how she started her career:
Your style seems cute and flirty. What and who influences your style?
My style is influenced by my personality that is laid back/tomboy but also spunky and flirty at times.
You’re fit. What’s your secret? And do you have any favorite workouts?
I love to mix it up. I get bored pretty easily so if I try new things with a mix of my classic routine I stay focused.
I like pilates and try to do that 3x a week.
Then on the other days I’ll do weight training with high intensity intervals. That involves isolated body part workouts like legs, arms, back, biceps/triceps. I LOVE Kayla Itsines workouts. 28 minutes and you’re done!
What are some of your favorite beauty products at the moment?
Murad eye cream is bomb! Keep those eyes fresh and it’s good to start preserving your face now.
I like La Mer night cream too. It feels so great on my skin that is occasionally dry.
The best facial mask of all time is the Bliss Mask A’peel’. Not only is it super fun to peel off but my face is rejuvenated after.
For young women trying to make it in the entertainment world, you’re an inspiration. What’s the best piece of advice that you can give to anyone trying to make it?
Don’t ever give up on your daydream.
I didn’t get here because I had a backup plan. I only had one plan and one goal.
I believe that if you work hard, surround yourself with the right people and genuinely try to learn from your mentors, then you will go far.
And taking risks is key.
My journey started with a HUGE risk.
I moved to Asia telling myself I was going to make something out of that experience and I somehow manifested it.
What is one of the best experiences you’ve had thus far working on E!?
Getting to meet some of the coolest people. Whether they are celebs, directors, my boyfriend, or the amazing hosts I work with. I love getting to talk to these guys on a daily basis.
Also getting to host E!’s The Rundown has been such a treat! I had no idea I was about to be a pioneer hosting a show for Snapchat that’s the first of it’s kind.
They also let me be ME! It’s been a dream.
Did you always know you wanted to work in the media?
Since I was a kid. I was reporting on fake news, in theater class, making home movies, writing scripts, studied broadcast journalism.
I always knew I wanted to be in front of the camera or even behind it in some capacity.
What’s the best part about your job and what are some of the downfalls?
Best part is being a storyteller and being a surrogate for the audience.
Downfall can sometimes be the hours. It’s sometimes early mornings, late nights, or long days all together. But at the end of the day it’s SO worth it.
What are your personal and professional goals for 2017?
Goals for rest of this year would be to commit to eating clean for more than 7 days. I’m a hot cheetos addict if you didn’t know! I’m such a foodie so it’s hard to stay the course.
And professionally, I want to grow my Erin Lim brand more and more.
I also think recreational stand up comedy is in the stars.
