This miracle cream was discovered by Robert Chesebrough in 1859 and has had a long and dynamic history of keeping skin protected which you can actually read about here.

In addition to protecting skin, there are many other ways Vaseline can be used.

Soothe cracked heels.

Have you ever noticed how sandals and flip flops can totally transform your feet from the softest and prettiest feet to the the most scratchy and flaky mess? Ekkk!

To prevent this from happening, lather and massage in Vaseline on your feet before bed. After you’re done, put on some socks to keep the jelly in place.

The next morning you’ll wake up to softer, smoother skin. 🙂

To protect your skin while coloring your hair.

Help heal a sunburn.

So sometimes you forget to reapply SPF at the beach and then you end up paying the price with painful, red skin. When and if that’s ever the case, liberally apply Vaseline to the affected area: It’ll help lock in moisture to your dried-out skin and prevent peeling.

Boost the effectiveness of your serum.

Because Vaseline prevents moisture evaporation, applying Vaseline over your eye serum or face cream can double the strength of the first layer’s ingredients.

Note: Don’t apply over retinol-based formulas or other similarly powerful products; it may irritate your skin. 🙁

Make a DIY lip or body scrub.

Mix ordinary sugar with an eighth of a teaspoon of Vaseline to create a quick lip scrub. It will help get rid of any flakes and create a super smooth canvas for lip color.

To exfoliate your entire body, use more Vaseline and instead of sugar, opt for kosher salt as the larger grains will be more effective on rough body skin.
